Job Description

A security supervisor monitors his staff by patrolling with them. The supervisor is also responsible for monitoring the electronic surveillance equipment used on the premises. The supervisor works with staff to develop safety plans for the buildings he monitors. The security supervisor also ensures the safety of people on their employer's premises.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsibilities to have the best interest in taking full care and protection of lives & property of the organization at the peak.
  2. Maintain the highest level of Guest care at all times by taking ownership of every complaint & request from the Guest, resolving them correctly and promptly.
  3. Assist the manager in planning, coordinating, and directing security and safety programs to include loss prevention, parking/traffic control, and patrolling of physical property.
  4. Conduct follow-up investigations of reports of criminal activities and violations of safety standards.
  5. Accurately investigate all incidents on the property and make reports accordingly, providing feedback to the Manager of Security.
  6. Investigate lost and found issues, review incident reports, and provide the final report to the Security Manager.
  7. Monitor security officers to enforce security/safety programs that enable the company’s assets to function according to guidelines, quality standards, and operating objectives.
  8. Liaise with emergency services, police, ambulance, and fire service to resolve issues and maintain security and service.
  9. Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards; check that Emergency Exits are always clear.
  10. Play a key role during fire drill exercises.
  11. Prepare duty rosters, time sheets, and follow up.
  12. Resolve conflicts between security staff.
  13. Comply with governmental legislation in terms of training and licenses.
  14. Follow emergency procedures to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees.
  15. Work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others.
  16. Anticipate possible and probable hazards and conditions and notify the Security Manager.
  17. Be responsible for security duties in the absence of the Security Manager.
  18. Communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and superiors.
  19. Handle difficult situations effectively.
  20. Attend meetings and training required by management.
  21. Accept a flexible planned work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to Zoo guests.
  22. Continuously seek to endeavor professionalism in own job function.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: High School Diploma preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security, facility management, or a similar supervisory role.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in emergency situations.
  • Familiarity with security systems (CCTV, alarm systems, access control).
  • Knowledge of building systems and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software.
