Amentum Services, Inc. is seeking a Security Barrier Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, repair and operation of security barrier equipment supporting airfield operations and base facilities.

Responsibilities include installing, programming, calibrating, troubleshooting, testing and repairing barriers, maintaining records, and coordinating with site management. Candidates must have English fluency and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Security Barrier Technician

Purpose and Scope: The purpose of this position is to perform the full range of inspections, maintenance, repair and operation of all assigned security barrier equipment that physically supports airfield operations, base facilities and security posts.

Essential Responsibilities: Maintain and adhere to applicable technical orders and good commercial practices for all maintenance actions including ordering parts; installing, programming, calibrating, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing barriers and barrier operational systems. Perform recurring scheduled preventive maintenance and non-recurring maintenance as required. Daily maintenance includes managing hazardous materials and ensuring environmental compliance. Maintenance may include complete replacement of barrier systems. Provide all care, maintenance and inspection; keep records; analyze records to correct non-optimal practices; issue reports to Site Management; monitor warranties; periodically operate and inspect idle equipment; preserve, clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment. Process all parts requisitions through government-approved processes.

• Inspect all moving parts for wear or excessive wear and repair or replace as necessary.
• Inspect all electrical wiring for wear and repair or replace as necessary.
• Inspect battery for proper voltage (in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications) and repair or replace as necessary.
• Inspect the hydraulic system for wear, leaks and proper fluid level (in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications) and repair or replace as necessary.
• Inspect lights for proper operation (in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications) and repair or replace as necessary.
• Inspect operation of barrier and repair as necessary.
• Verify normal operation up and down.
• If applicable, perform emergency operation (immediate up) after coordination with COR.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Minimum of five (2) years of experience in the security barrier field.
• Experience and proficiency with operating and maintaining IP5000, MP-5000, and B1310 barriers, tiger teeth, and manual sliding arms.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Must obtain and maintain a SECRET U.S. Government Clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
• Valid state driver’s license and qualification to operate government general-purpose vehicles.
• Experience working and communicating with government or military personnel.
• Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

The job requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in cramped and uncomfortable positions. Lifting of 20-40 pounds is common; occasional lifting over 40 pounds may occur. The employee may be exposed to wet, humid, and high-temperature conditions; fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; and electrical shock. Moderate noise levels are typical. Appropriate PPE is mandatory. The job may involve remote and uncomfortable living and working conditions, long hours, and adverse weather. Ability to work collaboratively with others, including government personnel, is required.
