Al Basma is a popular and over-subscribed, high performing ENC School. We seek a Physics specialism, with A level experience to join our very successful Secondary Science team.

Our seven-form entry school currently caters for 2000+ children from FS1 to Y13. We opened a state-of-the-art Primary block for Y3 to Y6 in September 2020.

We follow the National Curriculum of England and in EYFS the updated 2020 Development Matters Framework. We use both GL CAT4 and GL Progress tests for Year 4 to 10. In addition, we offer a range of GCSE, iGCSE, iAS and iA Levels from Cambridge, Edexcel and Pearson exam boards to our older students. We have begun to introduce a range of BTEC qualifications to better personalise pathways.

The school initially gained BSO (British Schools Overseas) accreditation in May 2016 in its second year of operation and continues to improve, achieving good with an increased number of outstanding features in May 2022. Since January 2017, the school has consistently achieved Band A gradings in the ADEK Irtiq'aa inspections. Most recently, in February 2022, the school consolidated its Very Good ADEK grading with a significant number of features graded outstanding.

Al Basma is located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood in Abu Dhabi called Al Bahia near to the international airport and Yas Island. Dubai is a 35 minute drive from the school.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Y7 to 13 Science Education with Chemistry specialism and QTS or equivalent.
  2. or An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, or a closely related subject and an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in Secondary Science with Chemistry specialism and QTS or equivalent.
  3. or An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in Secondary Science with QTS or equivalent and two years of experience teaching Secondary Chemistry.
