Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and immediate nursing care to students and employees who become ill or injured on campus.
- Assess symptoms, injuries, and medical concerns using appropriate clinical judgement.
- Determine whether an individual can return to class, requires observation, should be collected by a parent, or needs emergency treatment.
- Contact emergency medical services when a condition requires urgent external intervention.
- Administer approved medication according to prescriptions, parental consent, school procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor students with known medical conditions, allergies, disabilities, or ongoing treatment requirements.
- Develop and maintain individual healthcare plans for students requiring additional medical support.
- Maintain accurate, current, secure, and confidential student medical records.
- Record clinic visits, assessments, treatment provided, medication administration, referrals, and follow-up actions.
- Protect student and employee health information in accordance with confidentiality requirements.
- Review immunisation records and monitor compliance with Ministry of Health requirements.
- Notify parents of missing or expired immunisation documentation and follow up until records are complete.
- Coordinate with parents, healthcare providers, and school leaders regarding relevant medical concerns.
- Communicate clearly and sensitively when discussing student illness, injury, medication, or follow-up care.
- Support the implementation and periodic review of school health policies and procedures.
- Maintain clinic readiness, including first aid supplies, emergency equipment, medication storage, and medical documentation.
- Check expiry dates and arrange timely replacement of medicines and clinical supplies.
- Ensure equipment is clean, functional, accessible, and stored safely.
- Promote health, hygiene, nutrition, safety, and general wellbeing throughout the school.
- Deliver or support awareness activities on infection prevention, personal hygiene, healthy lifestyles, and relevant health topics.
- Monitor potential communicable illness and follow established reporting, isolation, and notification procedures.

Ideal Profile
- Recognised and approved Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Alternatively, an approved three-year General Nursing Certificate.
- Ministry of Health nursing licence is preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in school nursing, paediatric nursing, community healthcare, emergency care, or a similar role.
- Current knowledge of nursing practices, first aid, infection control, and healthcare regulations.
- Ability to assess medical concerns and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- Experience maintaining accurate and confidential medical records.
