SAP Functional Lead (Enterprise Asset Management, Plant Maintenance, Service Management & Project System)

Purpose

The SAP Functional Lead (EAM, PM, SM & PS) will provide deep functional and technical leadership in the implementation and optimisation of SAP's Enterprise Asset Management suite. This role covers Plant Maintenance (PM), Service Management (SM), and Project System (PS) within an S/4HANA environment. Focused on operational efficiency, asset reliability, and cost optimisation, the role will span across greenfield implementations, carve-outs, and system improvements. You will use Signavio (or similar tools) to model and improve maintenance, service, and project-related processes, working closely with maintenance, operations, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration across modules and alignment with business goals.

There will also be a focus on supporting HSSEQ-related processes within SAP, ensuring regulatory compliance, safety-critical maintenance procedures, and audit traceability are effectively managed and embedded into system design.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and support full lifecycle implementations of SAP PM, SM, EAM and PS solutions within S/4HANA, covering requirement gathering, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Facilitate business workshops and perform fit-gap analyses, leveraging Signavio (or equivalent BPM tools) to model and optimise enterprise asset and maintenance processes.
  • Configure technical objects, work order processing, preventive and corrective maintenance, service notifications, project structures, and related master data.
  • Ensure that SAP EAM/PM design aligns with HSSEQ standards, including safety-critical maintenance tasks, regulatory compliance tracking, environmental inspections, and audit readiness. Support the configuration of checklists, permits, and risk assessments where applicable.
  • Manage or support carve-out projects, ensuring the accurate transition of EAM data, minimal disruption to maintenance operations, and effective process continuity.
  • Work closely with integration points including FICO (settlements, budgeting), MM (spare parts), and PS (capital project lifecycle) to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across maintenance, engineering, operations, and IT to align deliverables with operational requirements.
  • Oversee testing strategies, training efforts, and post-go-live hypercare support to ensure successful adoption and system stabilisation.
  • Participate in SAP upgrades, patch management, and continuous improvement cycles related to PM and EAM.
  • Maintain detailed user documentation, process flows, and training materials for knowledge transfer.
  • Provide post-implementation support and lead enhancements aligned with evolving business needs.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree or SAP Certifications in PM, PS, or S/4HANA are an advantage.
  • 8+ years of SAP PM/EAM configuration and delivery experience, including work with SM and PS.
  • At least 2 full-cycle SAP implementations, including one S/4HANA greenfield project.
  • Experience in carve-out or M&A scenarios involving asset-intensive operations.
  • Familiarity with Signavio or similar BPM tools for business process analysis and redesign.
  • Deep understanding of asset management lifecycle processes, including maintenance planning, breakdown handling, service requests, and project execution.
  • Experience collaborating with business and IT stakeholders, with a track record of delivering measurable operational improvements.

• BPM Expertise: Proficient in Signavio (or similar) for visualising and improving maintenance and engineering workflows.

• Methodologies: Experienced in Agile and Waterfall delivery models, with strong planning and execution skills.
• Lifecycle Delivery: End-to-end ownership from blueprinting through cutover and post-go-live.

Communication & Documentation
• Business Engagement: Strong stakeholder management skills, able to translate business needs into SAP solutions.
• Documentation: Able to produce high-quality functional specs, training manuals, and user documentation.
