Job description

Job Title: Safety Officer

Department: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

Reports To: HSE Manager / Project Manager

Job Purpose:

To ensure that all safety regulations and procedures are followed at the worksite, aiming to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage while promoting a culture of safety among all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and monitor company HSE policies and procedures on-site.
  2. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with local and international safety standards.
  3. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive actions.
  4. Deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks for workers and staff.
  5. Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
  6. Coordinate with authorities to obtain necessary safety-related permits and documentation.
  7. Maintain accident and incident records and generate periodic safety reports.
  8. Oversee emergency response plans and ensure all staff are trained in emergency procedures.
  9. Identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  10. Promote a proactive safety culture across the workforce.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  2. Certified in NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent HSE certifications.
  3. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in construction or industrial projects.
  4. Strong knowledge of UAE (or relevant country) safety regulations and standards.
  5. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic site conditions.
