Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the focal point within the Department for all relevant Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) issues.
• Communicate OH&S matters from Management through the department's communication channels.
• Assist in promoting safe working practices and OH&S awareness within the department.
• Coordinate monthly safety video presentations and promote Safety Alerts from the Health & Safety Department.
• Participate in regular safety toolbox talks and ensure workforce understanding of safety topics.
• Conduct routine inspections in Mobile plant work areas, address unsafe acts or conditions, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure safety compliance.
• Act as emergency coordinator/fire warden during fire, emergency, or drill until the designated emergency controller arrives.
• Participate in accident investigations as required.
• Maintain good relationships with workers, foremen, supervisors, and management.
• Attend necessary training activities for the department.
• Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas.
• Follow daily operational procedures to ensure work continuity.
• Knowledge of Mobile plant operations is an added advantage.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and able to read and understand technical drawings.
• Apply appropriate engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Certificate or Diploma in HSE or Mechanical Engineering (advantageous).
• Vocational or Shipyard training.
• 2-5 years of experience as a Safety Steward or in a similar role.
