Job description

The Safety Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that an organization adheres to all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role involves developing safety protocols, conducting inspections, overseeing training programs, and enforcing compliance measures across facilities or worksites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of regulatory standards and a proactive approach to minimizing occupational hazards.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations.

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.

Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.

Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees and contractors.

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Liaise with government agencies during inspections and audits.

Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and emergency preparedness.

Coordinate with department heads to foster a culture of safety.

Stay updated with changes in HSE regulations and best practices.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety compliance or HSE role.

Strong knowledge of local labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Certification in NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety program.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and in hazardous environments.

Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
