Job Description
Oversee all safety, environmental, and quality compliance for ship repair, dry-docking, and maintenance operations. Ensure adherence to maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, Class Society rules), shipyard safety standards, and quality management systems to minimize risks, prevent accidents, and deliver defect-free vessel repairs.
1. Safety & Environmental Management:
- Implement *shipyard-specific safety programs* (confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tagout, working at height, crane/lifting operations).
- Ensure compliance with *maritime regulations* (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), *flag/port state requirements*, and local HSE laws.
- Conduct hazard assessments for *docking/undocking, hull repairs, tank cleaning, and engine overhauls*.
- Lead incident/near-miss investigations for shipboard incidents using root cause analysis (RCA).
- Monitor environmental compliance (waste disposal, ballast water, paint/coating management).
2. Quality Management:
- Maintain *Class Society compliance* (Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, etc.) and client-specific quality standards.
- Oversee *welding, NDT (UT/MPI/RT), coating inspections*, and material certifications.
- Manage *non-conformance reports (NCRs)* and ensure timely corrective actions for repair defects.
- Conduct audits of repair processes, subcontractors, and dock operations against ISO 9001/ISO 3834/ISO 45001.
- Review *technical specifications, work packages, and docking plans* for quality/safety alignment.
3. Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain *safety certifications* (ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC 2006) and *Class survey records*.
- Prepare documentation for *vessel deliveries, dry-dock reports, and regulatory submissions*.
- Track KPIs: on-time delivery, and rework costs.
4. Training & Culture:
- Deliver specialized training: *shipyard safety, scaffolding, gas testing, marine systems isolation*.
- Foster a "safety-first" culture among technicians, subcontractors, and crew onboard vessels in dock.
