Job description

A Roustabout on a drilling rig is an entry-level position responsible for general labor and maintenance tasks to support drilling operations. The job involves physically demanding work in harsh conditions, often on offshore or onshore drilling rigs.

Job Responsibilities:

a. Performs general cleaning duties including washing and painting of floors, rails, structures and carries out needle gunning, sandblasting, priming and painting of areas on rig as directed

b. Assists Derrickman in chemicals mixing including basic operation and maintenance of mud hopper.

c. Assists in all loading unloading operations from trucks or barges including transfer of cargo on board the rig such as drill pipe, casing, drilling tools, chemicals, pallets, cargo, cages, cargo baskets, oil drums; to be familiar with safe slinging practices, load rating of different sizes of lifting equipment and crane operators signaling methods.

d. Familiarizes himself with general rig safety rules and ensure that equipment and machinery are used in safe way. Reports unsafe conditions or practice to supervisor.

e. Assists in cleaning all drifting and thread protection of tubulars. Ensure that thread protectors are always placed on drill pipe, drill collars and cross overs that are being hoisted or stored.

f. Participates in all safety meetings, courses and seminars sponsored by the company.

g. Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting in rig moves, tying of equipment and stores, observing safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• No formal education required, but a high school diploma/GED is preferred.
• Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy loads and work long shifts.
• Basic mechanical skills and experience with hand tools.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Teamwork and strong communication skills.

Desired Candidate Profile

The minimum requirements to apply are as follows:

• Associate or College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree is mandatory
• 1 year of experience in technical fields (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, etc.), workshops, factories, maintenance, manufacturing, industrial plants, or administration
• Fresh graduates with a Bachelor's degree are welcome to apply
• Candidates based in the UAE only need to apply
• Age limit: 36 years old or below
• Applicants currently working in the F&B or sales sectors need not apply

• Work location: Onshore or offshore site
• Work rotation: 56 days on (work) / 28 days off (vacation)
• Accommodation and food provided at the site
• Salary: 2,283AED AED, paid monthly, regardless of rotation status
