Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and creative Rolling Stock Industrial Designer with a strong background in Rolling Stock design to support a high-profile Metro project in UAE. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the look, feel, and passenger experience of next-generation metro vehicles, working closely with engineering, branding, human factors, and client teams.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Oversee the design and development of train interiors and exteriors, including seats, driver cabins, lighting, signage, color schemes, and finishes.

• Ensure all design elements comply with safety, ergonomics, accessibility, and regulatory standards (EN, UIC, and RTA/Dubai-specific guidelines).

• Collaborate with the Manufacturer’s engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and integration with mechanical and electrical systems.

• Review -concept designs, mockups, and present renderings to internal stakeholders and to the client for their approval.

• Support the procurement and evaluation of rolling stock design and interior elements.

• .Participate in client and stakeholder reviews, providing rationale and technical input.

• Coordinate with Architecture teams to maintain consistency with Dubai Metro’s design identity and customer experience vision.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in industrial design, with at least 5 years in rail/rolling stock projects (metro, LRT, or passenger trains).

• Proven experience working on interior and/or exterior rolling stock designs from concept to production.

• Portfolio showcasing relevant design work in transportation or large public-use vehicles.

• Experience on Middle East/GCC transit projects, especially Dubai Metro.

• Familiarity with RTA submittal and approval processes.

Skills / Competencies:

• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering integration.

• Knowledge of railway design standards and accessibility requirements (including PRM/TFL/RTA standards).

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Passion for design innovation, attention to detail, and user-centered thinking.
