Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Road Design & Planning
  2. Develop road design plans and specifications, including alignments, profiles, and cross-sections.
  3. Design vertical profiles in line with design speed for roads and bridges, ensuring minimum clearance requirements.
  4. Create signs and marking layout plans for roads and bridges.
  5. Develop junction grading plans in coordination with stormwater management.
  6. Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations.
  7. Traffic Management & Planning
  8. Prepare traffic management plans.
  9. Develop detour plans and traffic diversions.
  10. Design pavement sections in compliance with authority requirements, considering traffic volume and soil reports.
  11. Ensure designs comply with local and international standards.
  12. Traffic Analysis & Impact Studies
  13. Analyze traffic patterns and volumes to determine road capacity and design needs.
  14. Identify problem areas using traffic data analysis.
  15. Use traffic modeling software to simulate and predict future traffic flows.
  16. Conduct traffic impact studies for new developments.
  17. Traffic Control & Infrastructure
  18. Design traffic control systems, including traffic signals, signage, and pavement markings.
  19. Plan and design roadway improvements, such as intersection modifications and lane additions.
  20. Develop plans for pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
  21. Design parking facilities.
  22. Oversee the implementation of traffic management plans.
  23. Evaluate the effectiveness of traffic control measures.
  24. Technical Expertise & Engineering Knowledge
  25. Strong understanding of highway design standards, specifications, and regulations.
  26. Knowledge of horizontal and vertical alignment design, pavement design, drainage systems, and traffic control.
  27. Evaluate soil conditions and drainage systems.
  28. Assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
  29. Project Coordination & Site Management
  30. Conduct site inspections and assessments.
  31. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify project needs and requirements.
  32. Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project completion within budget and timeline.
  33. Perform cost estimating and budgeting for road projects.

Requirements

  1. Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  2. 6 - 8 years of experience in road design and construction.
  3. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software.
  4. Familiarity with relevant design manuals and standards, such as those published by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) and local and regional transportation authorities.
  5. Strong project management skills.
  6. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  7. Familiarity with local and international road engineering regulations and guidelines.
  8. Experience with sustainable and environmentally-friendly construction practices.
  9. Leadership experience in managing engineering teams or projects.
  10. Proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM).
  11. Understanding of traffic engineering principles and practices.
  12. Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  13. Strong understanding of road design software, such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
  14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Working knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and regulations.
