Role Summary
The primary responsibility is to support deck operations on the client platform following EnerMech processes and procedures, demonstrating safety leadership and continuous development across all crane, lifting, and support service activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for all vessel lifts and those on the platform as directed by the Crane Supervisor, Deck Foreman or client.
- Carry out banking/signalman duties as required.
- Attach and detach loads to and from the crane.
- Select the correct lifting arrangement according to planned lifting operations and verify them before use.
- Check that the lifting equipment is in good condition, certified, colour‑coded, and has sufficient capacity.
- Direct and move the crane/load using the designated signalling method.
- Maintain complete control of the load using tag lines or other necessary assistance.
- Calculate weights, centre of gravity effects, and balance loads while judging distances, heights and clearances.
- Ensure no load is lifted where the weight is unrecorded or unknown.
- Participate in planning and risk assessment for routine and non‑routine complicated crane‑lifting operations.
- Apply general engineering knowledge to perform daily inspections of loose lifting equipment.
- Multi‑skill other platform duties such as operating firefighting equipment and fulfilling fire standby and deck duties when required.
- Complete reports, risk assessments, logs and other documentation as needed.
- Assist in maintaining all lifting appliances and cranes in clean, tidy condition.
- Maintain loose lifting equipment in a safe, operable state.
- Conduct pre‑use inspections of loose lifting equipment.
- Carry out minor repairs to loose lifting equipment, including safety catches.
- Support the client’s bi‑annual lifting equipment campaign by assisting TPI with inspection and re‑certification.
- Assist Crane Operator Maintainers in routine maintenance duties.
Qualifications
- Fluent reading and writing in English.
- Minimum of 5 years offshore experience.
- Adequate understanding of the capabilities and limitations of each crane in offshore operations.
- Educated to at least a higher secondary school certificate or equivalent.
