Job summary

EnerMech is seeking a Rigging professional to support crane operations on client platforms in the UAE. You will take responsibility for lifts onshore and offshore, perform signalling duties, and ensure equipment is safe and compliant.

The role requires planning, risk assessment, and multi-skill capabilities including firefighting and deck duties. The ideal candidate has 5+ years offshore experience, fluent English, and offshore certification readiness.

Qualifications

  • Read and written English fluently.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Educated to a minimum qualification of higher secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years offshore experience.
  • Trained and assessed every 2 years through a Company qualified assessor.
  • Competent by ADNOC TPA skills assessor for Level3 rigging (preferred).
  • Competent by ADNOC TPA skills assessor for Banksman/Signaler (preferred).
  • Competent by ADNOC TPA skills assessor for Overhead Crane Operator (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for all lifts onshore or offshore as directed by the Crane Supervisor, Deck Foreman or client personnel.
  • Carry out Banking/Signalman duties as required.
  • Attach and detach the load to and from the crane as the Rigger.
  • Choose the correct lifting arrangement per plan and check before use.
  • Ensure lifting equipment is in good condition and certified for use.
  • Direct and move crane/load using designated signalling.
  • Keep load under control with tag lines and other aids.
  • Assess weights, CG effects, balance loads, and judge distances/heights/clearances.
  • Ensure no unknown loads are lifted.
  • Assist in planning and risk assessment of lifting operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of lifting equipment and daily inspection routines.
  • Multi-skill in other duties including firefighting and deck duties when required.
  • Complete reports, risk assessments, and logs.
  • Maintain lifting appliances and equipment in good condition.
  • Carry out pre-use inspection and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Assist with inspection and re-certification campaigns.

Role Overview

The role? The primary responsibility is to support the deck operations on the client platform as per company processes and procedure and demonstrate safety leadership and continuous development in all aspects of crane, lifting and support service activities.

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
  • Be responsible for all lifts onshore or offshore as directed by the Crane Supervisor, Deck Foreman or client personnel where required.
  • Carry out Banking/Signalman duties as and when required.
  • The Rigger is responsible for attaching and detaching the load to and from the crane.
  • The Rigger is also responsible for the selection of the correct lifting arrangement in accordance with planned lifting operations and to check them before use.
  • Check that the lifting equipment being used is in good condition, certified for use, correctly colour coded, and of sufficient capacity to carry out the lift.
  • The directing and movement of the crane/load is initiated by the Rigger/slinger using the designated signalling method.
  • Ensure at all times that the load is under complete control by the use of tag lines, or whatever assistance is deemed necessary.
  • Able to establish weights and the effect of the centre of gravity, and to balance loads and judge distances, heights, and clearances.
  • Ensure that no load is to be lifted where the weight is not stated or unknown.
  • Participate in the planning and risk assessment of all routine and up to non‑routine complicated crane‑lifting operations associated with the day‑to‑day running of the client platforms.
  • Have sufficient general engineering knowledge of loose lifting equipment to carry out daily inspection routines.
  • Be multi‑skilled in other platform duties including operating firefighting equipment and undertaking fire standby and deck duties, when required.
  • Complete reports, lifting operation risk assessments, logs and other documentation, as required.
  • Assist in maintaining all lifting appliances including cranes in clean and tidy condition.
  • Maintain loose lifting equipment in a safe and operable condition.
  • Carry out pre‑use inspection of loose lifting equipment.
  • Carry out minor repairs to loose lifting equipment, i.e. repair of safety catches.
  • In line with clients or company bi‑annual lifting equipment campaign, assist TPI with inspection & re‑certification of loose lifting equipment.
  • Assist Crane Operator Maintainer & Maintainers in carrying out routine maintenance duties, acting as maintenance technician where required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Read and written English fluently.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Educated to a minimum qualification of higher secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years offshore experience.
  • Trained and assessed every 2 years through a Company qualified assessor approved by COMPANY.
  • Competent by approved ADNOC TPA skills assessor against the criteria for Level3 rigging competency (preferred).
  • Competent by approved ADNOC TPA skills assessor against the criteria for Banksman/Signaler competency (preferred).
  • Competent by approved ADNOC TPA skills assessor against the criteria for Overhead Crane Operator competency (preferred).
  • Have adequate understanding of the capabilities and limitations of each crane about offshore operations.
  • Riggers who have not worked on any offshore platforms shall undertake sufficient time to familiarise themselves with the specific operating procedures under supervision before commencing lifting operations.
