Job summary

EnerMech in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced rigger to support offshore crane operations on client platforms. The role emphasizes safety leadership, lifting planning, and maintenance of lifting equipment to ensure compliance with procedures and continuous improvement.

You will participate in risk assessments and work across related platform duties when required. Candidates should have 5+ years offshore experience, English fluency, and ADNOC‑aligned qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Rigger must read and write English fluently and be wholly competent in offshore crane rigging duties.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Education at least higher secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years offshore experience.
  • Must be trained and assessed every 2 years by a company qualified assessor.
  • ADNOC TPA Level 3 rigging competency preferred.
  • ADNOC TPA Banksman/Signaler competency preferred.
  • ADNOC TPA Overhead Crane Operator competency preferred.
  • Rigger must understand crane capabilities for offshore operations.
  • New offshore workers should familiarise themselves with operating procedures under supervision before lifting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for all lifts onshore or offshore as directed by the Crane Supervisor, Deck Foreman or client personnel where required.
  • Carry out Banking/Signalman duties as and when required.
  • Attaching and detaching the load to and from the crane.
  • Select the correct lifting arrangement in accordance with planned lifting operations and check them before use.
  • Ensure lifting equipment is in good condition, certified for use, correctly colour coded, and of sufficient capacity to carry out the lift.
  • Directing and movement of the crane/load is initiated by the Rigger/slinger using the designated signalling method.
  • Ensure at all times that the load is under complete control by the use of tag lines, or whatever assistance is deemed necessary.
  • Able to establish weights and the effect of the centre of gravity, and to balance loads and judge distances, heights, and clearances.
  • Ensure that no load is to be lifted where the weight is not stated or unknown.
  • Participate in planning and risk assessment of all routine and up to non‑routine complicated crane‑lifting operations associated with the day‑to‑day running of the client platforms.
  • Have sufficient general engineering knowledge of loose lifting equipment to carry out daily inspection routines.
  • Be multi‑skilled in other platform duties including operating firefighting equipment and undertaking fire standby and deck duties, when required.
  • Complete reports, lifting operation risk assessments, logs and other documentation, as required.
  • Assist in maintaining all lifting appliances including cranes in clean and tidy condition.
  • Maintain loose lifting equipment in a safe and operable condition.
  • Carry out pre‑use inspection of loose lifting equipment.
  • Carry out minor repairs to loose lifting equipment, e.g., repair of safety catches.
  • In line with clients or company bi‑annual lifting equipment campaign, assist TPI with inspection & re‑certification of loose lifting equipment.
  • Assist Crane Operator Maintainer & Maintainers in carrying out routine maintenance duties, acting as maintenance technician where required.

  • Competent by approved ADNOC TPA skills assessor against the criteria for Overhead Crane Operator competency preferred.
  • Rigger shall also have adequate understanding of the capabilities and limitations of each crane about offshore operations.
  • Riggers who have not worked on any offshore platforms shall undertake sufficient time to familiarise themselves with the specific operating procedures under the supervision before commencing lifting operations.
