Job description

Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapy

The role is responsible for independently or under the supervision of senior therapists, performing all respiratory therapy interventions with the patient's best interest in mind.

Educational Qualification
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in respiratory therapy or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (minimum two years course duration)
  • Current National License as Respiratory Therapist

Responsibilities
  • Perform respiratory care procedures as per established policies and procedures, under the guidance of senior staff and physicians.
  • Operate autonomously, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Monitor material supplies and report shortages to senior staff or supervisor promptly, ordering replenishments as needed.
  • Participate in developing and modifying respiratory care plans and therapeutic goals in consultation with physicians.
  • Assist in cardiac/respiratory arrest situations with physicians and the Code Team.
  • Provide advanced emergency airway care following approved protocols.
  • Conduct or assist with pulmonary and sleep diagnostic procedures.
  • Troubleshoot respiratory care equipment and report maintenance issues.
  • Contribute to education, development, and orientation of new employees and students.
  • Participate in departmental training sessions, including equipment handling, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations.
Accountabilities
  • Support respiratory therapy for patients and monitor their responses regularly.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained.
  • Work within established policies and procedures.
  • Document patient care activities according to guidelines.
