Job summary

Halian Group is seeking a senior Resident Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure design and deployment in Dubai. You will architect, integrate, and optimize OpenStack/OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms, with emphasis on AI and GPU infra, data centre networking, and security.

You will work closely with customers, partners, and internal engineering teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions. The role focuses on hands-on architecture, integration, and ongoing optimization of cloud environments,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, data centre, or enterprise infra environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenStack architecture, deployment, and administration.
• Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
• Deep understanding of server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infra technologies.
• Strong knowledge of data centre networking and network virtualization.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting large-scale private cloud environments.
• Proven ability to create HLDs/LLDs and architecture documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions covering compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containerization, and orchestration.
• Analyse existing infrastructure and propose modernization and capacity expansion strategies.
• Develop high/low level designs, architecture diagrams, BoQs, and technical specs.
• Ensure designs meet scalability, availability, performance, and security requirements.
• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot OpenStack private clouds and related services.
• Design and implement enterprise OpenShift platforms and manage cluster lifecycles.

Based in Dubai, they are hiring for a Resident Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure & AI to join their team.

This is a hands-on architecture and engineering role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges while working closely with customers, technology partners, and internal engineering teams.

You will be responsible for the design, integration, optimisation, and support of cloud infrastructure platforms spanning OpenStack, OpenShift, AI/GPU infrastructure, data centre networking, storage, and automation technologies.

Your Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Architecture & Design

• Design and develop end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions covering compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containerization, and orchestration.
• Analyse existing infrastructure and recommend architecture improvements, modernization initiatives, and capacity expansion strategies.
• Develop HLDs, LLDs, architecture diagrams, BoQs, and technical specifications.
• Ensure infrastructure designs meet scalability, availability, performance, and security requirements.

OpenStack & Cloud Platforms

• Design, deploy, integrate, and troubleshoot OpenStack private cloud environments.
• Support technologies including KVM, Ceph, OpenStack services, and network virtualization platforms.
• Perform infrastructure sizing, resource optimisation, and capacity planning activities.
• Support cloud expansion, migration, upgrade, and integration projects.

OpenShift & Container Platforms

• Design and implement enterprise OpenShift container platforms.
• Architect and support OpenShift clusters including compute, networking, storage, and control-plane components.
• Integrate OpenShift with enterprise monitoring, security, storage, and identity solutions.
• Manage cluster lifecycle activities including upgrades, expansion, troubleshooting, and optimisation.

Networking, Storage & AI Infrastructure

• Design and validate data centre networking architectures supporting cloud environments.
• Support technologies including Leaf-Spine, VXLAN, EVPN, BGP, MLAG, routing, and switching.
• Design storage solutions for virtualization, containerized workloads, and AI platforms.
• Support AI and GPU infrastructure requirements, including NVIDIA technologies and high-performance computing environments.

Automation & Operations

• Design and integrate cloud orchestration and automation solutions.
• Support automation using Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes Operators, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud, networking, storage, and virtualization layers.
• Work closely with customer stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and ongoing optimisation of cloud environments.

Your Qualifications:

• Must have 10+ years of experience within cloud infrastructure, data centre, or enterprise infrastructure engineering environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenStack architecture, deployment, and administration.
• Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
• Deep understanding of server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure technologies.
• Strong knowledge of data centre networking and network virtualization.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting large-scale private cloud environments.
• Proven experience creating HLDs, LLDs, architecture documentation, and technical proposals.
• Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and capacity planning.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with customer stakeholders.
• Experience with AI/GPU infrastructure, Ceph, automation tools, or enterprise storage technologies would be advantageous.
• Relevant certifications across Red Hat, OpenShift, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Cloud, or Infrastructure technologies are highly desirable.
