Overview

Resident Design Engineer (Infrastructure and Lighting) – Abu Dhabi, UAE. Parsons is looking for an experienced Resident Design Engineer to join our team. The role involves design, planning, scheduling, supervising, and exercising administrative authority over all field electrical engineering work related to infrastructure and lighting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to the construction team and produce electrical designs that arise during construction.
  • Provide guidance and resolve design-related challenges promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical design decisions, modifications, and internal approvals during the Construction Phase.
  • Highlight any design changes or deviations and provide necessary updates to the project management team and involved stakeholders.
  • Design all services and coordinate with relevant authorities.
  • Prepare plans and cross sections detailing all new service reservations required for the works.
  • Design street lighting, infrastructure, road marking, signage, public realm, landscaping, etc.
  • Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and any RFIs relating to infrastructure, landscaping, irrigation and related works.
  • Coordinate with Parsons design engineers for resolution of related issues.
  • Maintain the Resident Engineer’s daily diary and reports by subordinates.
  • Coordinate with the Contractor on scheduling and resource application.
  • Direct, assist and monitor the performance of the construction team supervising landscaping, irrigation and related works.
  • Coordinate with the client/PMC, the Contractor and related authorities.
  • Advise on contractual and design/construction matters regarding utilities diversions, traffic diversions, and other related works.
  • Supervise and report on the progress of the design of landscaping, irrigation and related works.
  • Liaise with all parties for site safety and convene regular site meetings about design issues related to infrastructure and landscaping.
  • Issue additional drawings as required in coordination with the design office and ensure prompt exchange of correspondence and approvals.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of records and deliver safe project execution by meeting safety goals and procedures.
  • Provide on-site direction and issue site instructions for landscape, irrigation and related activities.
  • Check and measure performed work and record progress versus programmed work; prepare progress reports as applicable.
  • Ensure the correctness and completeness of ‘as-built’ drawings in the area of discipline and participate in contract administration.
What Required Skills You\'ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of related experience in infrastructure and lighting design (e.g., street lighting, architectural lighting, LED retrofit) projects.
  • Demonstrated effective managerial capability on engineering/construction projects.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) registration or other similar professional recognition preferred.
  • Registered as practicing engineers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi or hold an equivalency certificate.
