Quantum & Spin Lab in the Chemistry Program within the Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-doctoral Associate or Research Associate to join our team starting 1st January 2026. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research environment focused on synthetic organic chemistry, fluorescent materials, and advanced NMR techniques.

Research Focus

Our laboratory is engaged in the design and synthesis of novel organic compounds exhibiting spin and light-emissive properties. These compounds play a pivotal role in Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) sensing, a technique that significantly enhances nuclear spin signal. Candidates will contribute to the development of new classes of organic molecules tailored for DNP-NMR applications, benefiting from NYUAD’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure for organic synthesis and molecular characterization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, synthesis, and characterization of complex organic molecules for DNP applications.
• Employ advanced NMR/MRI methods for structural analysis and DNP-related studies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within NYUAD and international partners.
• Contribute to scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students as part of the lab’s training mission.

Candidate Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, with a focus on organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterization.
• Minimum three years of postdoctoral research experience, ideally in fluorescent organic molecules or multi-step synthesis.
• Proficiency in NMR spectroscopy; prior exposure to DNP NMR techniques is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Ability to independently design and execute complex synthetic pathways.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• High scientific creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
