Description

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a research assistant in Mathematics, starting December 1, 2025. The position involves working under the supervision of Prof. Pierre Youssef on topics such as:

• Concentration and functional inequalities
• Mixing times of Markov chains
• Mathematical aspects of machine learning (automated proofs, deep learning, feature selection, bias and fairness modeling, etc.)

While candidates with other research interests may be considered, preference will be given to those with expertise in one or more of the above areas.

The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematical background, along with knowledge of machine learning and Data Science.

Excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential qualities.
