Offer Description

Description

The Language, Mind and Brain laboratory in the Science Division, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on the mechanisms underlying visual word recognition in healthy neurotypical adults.

The successful applicant will drive a project on the relative contribution of lexical and sublexical information during the early stages of the word recognition process. Our lab has been conducting large scale web-based experiments using the masked priming paradigm to measure with high precision how different sources of information are taken into account in the process of mapping visual input onto linguistic representations, and the applicant will expand that line of inquiry and help translate it into experimental designs that can be tested in-lab using electrophysiological methods like MEG. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD- and MA-level scientists, and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have a BA in Psychology or related field. Some degree of experimental and data analysis skills relevant to the project are required.

For consideration, applicants need to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree, and at least 2 letters of recommendation, all in PDF format. If you have any questions, please email Prof. Diogo Almeida at diogo@nyu.edu .
