Job description

The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking to recruit a research assistant to join its new initiative focused on designing and developing novel medical devices for human use.

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in projects related to engineering novel approaches for diagnosing and treating metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases.
2. Engage in computational modeling, device design, manufacturing, and optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical properties.
3. Support research activities including data collection and analysis, project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation.
4. Work in a multidisciplinary environment with PhD-level scientists, graduate, and undergraduate students.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in engineering or a biomedical-related discipline.
2. At least two years of laboratory experience.
3. Ability to work independently and in a team.
4. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
5. Willingness to work with rodent models, including handling and surgical techniques.
6. Proficiency in English.
7. Excellent computational, experimental, or engineering skills are highly desirable.
