Ubuntu security engineer position based in United Arab Emirates. Join a globally distributed security engineering team dedicated to securing open source software.

You’ll investigate vulnerabilities across the Ubuntu ecosystem, help identify, assess, remediate, and document issues, and collaborate with upstream developers and internal teams to deliver robust fixes. Open to candidates from graduates to senior security engineers with strong technical potential and a passion for security.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Familiarity with coordinated vulnerability disclosure and responsible security communication.
• Experience with open source development tools and methodologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, investigate, fix, and test vulnerabilities in Ubuntu ecosystem.
• Monitor vulnerabilities from discovery to patch release using internal tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams, upstream developers and the open source community.
• Audit source code to identify security weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
• Design features, automation, and tools to improve security posture.
• Document findings and remediation activities clearly.
• Engage with industry communities and contribute to security initiatives.
• Work autonomously within a globally distributed team.
