Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant coding experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One AHIMA or AAPC certification (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, CCA).
• Ability to work from home in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records for inpatient and outpatient services to identify principal and secondary diagnoses.
• Translate diagnostic and procedural phrases into coded form using standard guidelines.
• Assign appropriate DRG and determine sequencing to maximize reimbursement.
• Query physicians to clarify documentation for accurate coding.
• Assist in training new coding staff on guidelines and software systems.
• Update and correct historical file data via claim action reports.
