Job summary

Sundus in Abu Dhabi, UAE, seeks a Reinsurance Manager to lead and coordinate all reinsurance activities in line with the company strategy. You will manage active treaties, supervise a small team, and collaborate with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and other departments to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal risk transfer.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Insurance, recognized reinsurance qualifications, and at least 5 years in reinsurance with GCC/UAE exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Insurance or related field.
• Professional qualification in Insurance and/or Reinsurance is required.
• Strong understanding of GCC/UAE insurance regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer active reinsurance treaties and placements.
• Handle reinsurance accounting, treaty accounts, settlements, and reconciliations.
• Monitor reinsurance recoverables and outstanding balances.
• Prepare treaty accounts, bordereaux, reports, and related documentation.
• Coordinate recoveries, claims notifications, and communications with reinsurers and brokers.
• Maintain accurate treaty records, registers, contracts, and correspondence.
• Monitor treaty renewals and contractual obligations.
• Review reinsurance capacity and structures based on business needs.
• Coordinate with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and other departments.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting, solvency, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and supervise a small reinsurance team.
• Escalate material issues and provide management reports on reinsurance activities.

Job Purpose

The Reinsurance Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for managing and coordinating all reinsurance activities in line with the organization's reinsurance strategy, policies, business objectives, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer active reinsurance treaties and placements.
• Handle reinsurance accounting, treaty accounts, settlements, and reconciliations.
• Monitor reinsurance recoverables and outstanding balances.
• Prepare treaty accounts, bordereaux, reports, and related documentation.
• Coordinate recoveries, claims notifications, and communications with reinsurers and brokers.

• Monitor treaty renewals, notice periods, and contractual obligations.
• Review reinsurance capacity and structures based on business and portfolio requirements.
• Coordinate with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and other relevant departments.

• Lead and supervise a small reinsurance team.
• Escalate material issues and provide management reports on reinsurance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline.
• Recognized professional qualification in Insurance and/or Reinsurance is required.
• Good understanding of applicable insurance and solvency requirements in the GCC/UAE market.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in reinsurance, preferably within an insurance
• UAE or GCC experience in UAE, Oman, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia is preferred.
• Proven experience in treaty administration, reinsurance accounting, recoveries, settlements, and reinsurer/broker coordination.
• Previous experience supervising or leading a small team within the reinsurance function.
• Experience working closely with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and other business functions.
