A leading company in Dubai is seeking a skilled Legal Advisor for the Licensing Unit tasked with ensuring compliance with laws, providing legal insights, and engaging in regulatory matters. The role includes advising on policy development and representing the unit in government communications. Ideal candidates will have a law degree and extensive experience in legal advisory and regulatory compliance.
Serve as the legal advisor for the Licensing Unit, ensuring regulatory actions, fines and warnings comply with existing laws by reviewing business cases, assessing industry issues, analyzing legal implications, advising on compliance, proposing sector-specific legal updates and supporting official government communications.
Strategy, Policy and Procedure
· Participate in cross-functional discussions to ensure that legal perspectives are integrated into strategic planning.
· Collaborate with internal teams to align regulatory policies with industry best practices and legal requirements.
· Provide expert legal insights in the development of new policies and strategic initiatives within the Licensing Unit.
· Deal with sensitive and confidential information related to work with discretion to protect the interests of the 7X.
Regulatory Compliance and Legal Advisory
· Act as the primary legal advisor for the Licensing Unit, providing expert opinions on regulatory matters.
· Ensure that all fines, warnings, and enforcement actions issued by the inspection team are legally sound and in full compliance with existing laws and regulations.
· Assess business cases and issues within the industry to determine their legal standing and compliance with the current regulatory framework.
· Provide legal interpretations and guidance on industry-related matters to ensure regulatory clarity and adherence.
Review and Evaluation of Laws and Regulations
· Conduct regular reviews of existing laws and regulations governing the sector to identify potential gaps, conflicts, or areas for improvement.
· Propose changes or updates to the legal framework and submit recommendations for government consideration.
· Engage with relevant authorities and legal entities to advocate for necessary legislative updates.
· Maintain records of legal assessments, regulatory actions and industry compliance cases.
Industry Oversight and Legal Support
· Monitor developments and emerging trends in the industry, assessing their legal and regulatory implications.
· Evaluate requests and issues raised by licensed companies, providing legal insights and clarifications on regulatory requirements.
· Address legal inquiries from industry stakeholders, ensuring transparency and adherence to laws.
Government and Official Communications
· Support the Chief Licensing Officer in preparing official government correspondences related to regulatory matters.
· Assist in drafting responses to government inquiries, legislative bodies and public sector entities regarding licensing policies and enforcement.
· Represent the Licensing Unit in government meetings and legal discussions as required.
Stakeholder Engagement and Legal Advocacy
· Serve as a legal liaison between the Licensing Unit, industry stakeholders and government bodies.
· Advocate for industry interests while ensuring regulatory compliance and fair enforcement of laws.
· Conduct workshops and training sessions for internal teams on legal and regulatory updates.
Other Tasks
· Perform any other responsibilities relating to this job request or work task as allocated by the Line Manager.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications and Knowledge:
· Bachelor’s degree in law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
Experience:
· 7-10 years of experience in legal advisory, regulatory compliance or industry-related law with proven experience working with regulatory bodies, government agencies or legal consultancy firms.
