Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled nurse to provide comprehensive patient care across obstetric, neonatal and general wards. You will assist physicians with invasive procedures, monitor vital signs, and document findings per policy, while ensuring infection control and patient comfort.

Responsibilities include coordinating with doctors and allied staff, leading in the absence of the charge nurse, and supporting breastfeeding and newborn bonding.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with invasive procedures and ventilator care as required.
  • Monitor vital signs and document according to policy and patient condition.
  • Coordinate with doctors and allied staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Respond to code blue and participate in emergency drills.
  • Provide pre/post-operative and obstetric care, including newborn support.
  • Support breastfeeding and newborn-parent bonding when applicable.
  • Collect specimens for diagnostic testing and monitor blood products.
  • Transfer patients between units or facilities as needed, including transport.
  • Lead the team in the absence of the charge nurse and delegate tasks.

Job description

Assists Dr’s in insertion of invasive lines following sterile technique as per infection control guidelines

Assesses and documents vital signs at specified frequency according to patients condition and hospital policy

Ability to setup the ventilator and care of the patient on a ventilator/respiratory support

To assist in transferring a patient on respiratory support

Responsible for coordinating with Doctors and other allied workers to provide comprehensive care to the patient

Must be competent in code blue and respond when needed.

Performs nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique

Provides patient education to patient and family members and documents

Provides for the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and families.

Assists and encourages patient with breast feeding when applicable

Assists with transfer of critical patients to other facilities and serves as transport nurse during ambulance transport

Knowledge and skills on collection of specimens, bloods for diagnostic testing and critical values

Knowledge on ordering blood products and monitoring patients when receiving blood products.

In depth knowledge of Obstetric emergencies, nursing management and care as per protocols.

Provides surgical care (pre and post-operative), postnatal care, breastfeeding advice and support to women and their babies.

Performs initial assessment and reassessment of patients in the department including neonates, pediatric and adult patients

Demonstrates knowledge of electronic fetal monitoring using CTG and central monitoring system.

Is able to provide a high standard of care to all Specialties that falls within the hospitals scope of practice.

Initiates Intravenous Therapy as per Doctors orders

Demonstrates skills in routine care for newborns, rooming in with mothers.

Participates in emergency code drills and performs when necessary

Acts as Team Leader in the absence of the Charge Nurse and is able to delegate tasks as per skills and scope of practice.

Demonstrates knowledge in caring for patients admitted for induction of labor.

Monitors early progress of laboring mothers before transferring to labor ward, interprets fetal heart rate and notifies Physician when appropriate for progress or problems.

Performs post-partum care of mother, performs fundal massage and monitors vital signs, blood loss as needed and promotes newborn/parent bonding

Performs the Appropriateness review of medications before preparing and administering medications as required.

Responsible for coordinating with the Obstetrician, Neonatologist / Pediatrician and other allied workers to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Prepares mothers for cesarean sections and provides pre-operative and post-operative care to all patients requiring surgical procedures

Actively promotes and assists mothers with breastfeeding, basic newborn care and patient education.

Has skills and knowledge on collection of specimens, bloods for diagnostic testing and critical values

Knowledge on ordering blood products and monitors patients when receiving blood products.

Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.
