Job summary

NMC GROUP SERVICES in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the obstetric team. You will provide pre- and postnatal care, breast feeding support, and neonatal care to a diverse patient population in a high-standard hospital setting.

Responsibilities include CTG interpretation, IV initiation, coordination with obstetricians and neonatologists, cesarean section prep, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid nursing license in the UAE.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in obstetric and neonatal care preferred.
• Fluent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and postnatal care and breastfeeding support to women and babies.
• Assess and reassess patients including neonates, pediatric and adult in the department.
• Interpret fetal heart rate using CTG and alert physicians as needed.
• Initiate IV therapy per doctor orders and monitor patient status.
• Promote newborn-parent bonding and basic newborn care.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, neonatologists and pediatricians for comprehensive care.
• Prepare mothers for cesarean sections and deliver pre-/post-operative care.
• Engage in emergency drills and lead when required.
• Ensure medication safety and participate in appropriateness review of medications.

Job description

Responsibilities

Provides surgical care pre and post-operative postnatal care breastfeeding advice and support to women and their babies Performs initial assessment and reassessment of patients in the department including neonates pediatric and adult patients Demonstrates knowledge of electronic fetal monitoring using CTG and central monitoring system Is able to provide a high standard of care to all Specialties that falls within the hospitals scope of practice Initiates Intravenous Therapy as per Doctors orders Demonstrates skills in routine care for newborns rooming in with mothers Participates in emergency code drills and performs when necessary Acts as Team Leader in the absence of the Charge Nurse and is able to delegate tasks as per skills and scope of practice Demonstrates knowledge in caring for patients admitted for induction of labor Monitors early progress of laboring mothers before transferring to labor ward interprets fetal heart rate and notifies Physician when appropriate for progress or problems Performs post-partum care of mother performs fundal massage and monitors vital signs blood loss as needed and promotes newborn parent bonding Performs the Appropriateness review of medications before preparing and administering medications as required Responsible for coordinating with the Obstetrician Neonatologist Pediatrician and other allied workers to provide comprehensive care to patients Prepares mothers for cesarean sections and provides pre-operative and post-operative care to all patients requiring surgical procedures Actively promotes and assists mothers with breastfeeding basic newborn care and patient education Has skills and knowledge on collection of specimens bloods for diagnostic testing and critical values Knowledge on ordering blood products and monitors patients when receiving blood products Knowledge of Obstetric emergencies nursing management and care as per protocols Provides appropriate health education to patients and their family Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates Manage their own professional re-licensure Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card Be willing to work across departments when necessary Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
