JOB SUMMARY

The Equestrian Manager is responsible for maintaining the overall health and wellbeing of the horses. The candidate must have experience with horses and be BHS certified.
The role involves ensuring the horses' wellbeing in various situations such as boarding, training, and transport. The Equestrian Manager may turn horses out for exercise and check bedding materials for pests. Continual observation of horse behavior is essential, as it can indicate health issues.
The manager ensures that the horses' health, nutrition, and medical treatments are up to date. Additionally, the Equestrian Manager often handles the business aspects, including managing facilities, scheduling personnel, and overseeing marketing and budgets.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of professional experience with horses.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Stables and Arena Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to individuals on correct riding techniques.
  • Assess individuals' current knowledge to develop personalized training programs.
  • Ensure guests sign in upon entering the stables.
  • Develop and implement specific exercise routines and supplement schedules.
  • Conduct under saddle work, ground work, and manners training.
  • Call a veterinarian in case of emergencies and schedule vet and farrier visits.

Stables Equipment and Supplies

  • Maintain and clean equipment and supplies.

Recreation Communication and Coordination

  • Provide information about recreation facilities, activities, riding lessons, and equipment.
  • Create a fun and relaxing atmosphere with an upbeat attitude.

Recreation Facilities Safety

  • Monitor activities and respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Assist injured guests until emergency services arrive.
  • Complete necessary certifications and training for equipment use and instruction.

Guest Relations

  • Greet guests warmly, acknowledge with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly greeting, using their name when possible.
  • Thank guests sincerely and bid farewell.
  • Assist guests with disabilities within guidelines, providing support such as escorting or explaining actions.
  • Engage guests in conversation about their stay and property offerings.
  • Listen and respond positively to questions and concerns, resolving issues to delight guests and build trust.
  • Anticipate guest needs by asking questions and observing preferences, acting on them when possible.
