The Railway System Engineer is responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing railway systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves system-level thinking, covering rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems.
Key Accountabilities
- System Design & Architecture
- Define and manage railway system requirements, architecture, and interactions between subsystems (rolling stock, signaling, tracks, power supply).
- Select appropriate technologies and configurations for new rail projects. - System Integration
- Ensure interoperability between railway subsystems and interfaces.
- Validate system compatibility across networks (e.g., ERTMS, CBTC, PTC). - Performance Optimization
- Improve system efficiency, capacity, energy consumption, and reliability. - Verification & Validation
- Ensure systems meet performance standards, laws, and project requirements.
- Define and monitor V&V plans. - Lifecycle Management
- Manage upgrades and modernization projects.
- Support asset management and maintenance planning. - Digitalization & Smart Rail Technologies
- Implement IoT, AI, Big Data solutions for predictive maintenance and automation.
- Work with Digital Twin, Remote Monitoring, and Smart Signaling technologies.
