Quantity Surveyor (Main Contractor)

Our Tier 1 Main Contracting Client has a new requirement for a well experienced Quantity Surveyor (Post Contract) to join their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have extensive post contract Quantity Surveying experience on civil construction projects including mid / high rise residential, commercial, mixed use and retail building projects. Only candidates who have worked for a recognized main contracting company previously will be considered. This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3-6 month contract position, outsourced through J10 Consulting. There is an option after 6 months to transfer to client staff to suit all parties.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administer all contractual matters pertaining to the Main Contract and Subcontracts and keep the Project Manager informed of such matters.
2. Measure and settle subcontract accounts in accordance with company procedures and contract provisions.
3. Ensure timely submission of interim valuations and expedite receipt of certificates and payments.
4. Liaise with nominated subcontractors and prepare risk analysis for management review.
5. Carry out measurements as per the relevant method of measurement under the Contract where applicable.
6. Prepare disruption schedules, claims schedules, charges, etc., in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager.
7. Ensure all contractual notices are submitted as per the Contract guidelines.
8. Identify, quantify, and motivate for payment of all variations between Tender and Contract documents.
9. Prepare claims for extension of time and additional expenses in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager.
10. Update Contract forecasts and monthly performance reports.
11. Reconcile actual bulk material quantities against Tender and Contract documents.
12. Participate in meetings with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager, Consultants, Subcontractors, etc.
13. Assess risk items in BOQ or drawings and advise on remedial measures.
14. Assist in progressing development within the Commercial Department.
15. Monitor site expenditure, advise on risk areas or cost over-run items.
16. Comply with all applicable Management Systems (Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, etc.).
17. Work on SAP, including entry sheets for subcontractor certification and PR releases.
18. Procure domestic and nominated subcontract packages, from inquiry to finalization.
19. Assist in estimating new projects, including inquiries, follow-ups, paperwork, pre-tender queries, vendor updates, and pricing.

Quantity Surveyor Experience:

• BSc in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution preferred.
• Experience in post contract and sub-contract procurement on low-mid rise civil projects.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience, with at least 1-2 years in UAE with recognized main contracting companies.
• Knowledge of QS and SAP software is required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Good project background with proven English language technical writing skills.
