Quantity Surveyor - CONSTRUCTION AND CONTRACTING
Responsibilities:
- Liaising with clients to identify their needs
- Estimating quantities, costs and time scales for material and labour
- Preparing tender and contract documents
- Identifying and weighing up commercial risks
- Assigning work to subcontractors
- Valuing completed work, managing budgets and overseeing payments
- Ensuring projects meet legal and quality standards
- Ensuring that clients get value for their money
- Advising on the maintenance costs of specific buildings
- Submitting regular budget reports
- Following building regulations and health and safety
- Working at a client’s business, in an office or on a construction site
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is essential for foundational knowledge.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS, ACostE, or equivalent are highly preferred to validate expertise.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and contracting roles, demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry.
- Experience working with major contractors or engineering firms to showcase capability in large-scale project management.
- Preference for candidates with experience in specific sectors such as residential, commercial, or civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, or similar) to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus for multinational projects.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
