Quantity Surveyor - CONSTRUCTION AND CONTRACTING

Responsibilities:

• Liaising with clients to identify their needs
• Estimating quantities, costs and time scales for material and labour
• Preparing tender and contract documents
• Identifying and weighing up commercial risks
• Assigning work to subcontractors
• Valuing completed work, managing budgets and overseeing payments
• Ensuring projects meet legal and quality standards
• Ensuring that clients get value for their money
• Advising on the maintenance costs of specific buildings
• Submitting regular budget reports
• Following building regulations and health and safety
• Working at a client’s business, in an office or on a construction site

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is essential for foundational knowledge.
• Professional certifications such as MRICS, ACostE, or equivalent are highly preferred to validate expertise.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and contracting roles, demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry.
• Experience working with major contractors or engineering firms to showcase capability in large-scale project management.
• Preference for candidates with experience in specific sectors such as residential, commercial, or civil engineering projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, or similar) to enhance productivity and accuracy.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus for multinational projects.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
