Job description

Driven to create unique home-grown food concepts that bring people together, the Independent Food Company is a UAE-based hospitality company with multiple concepts under its umbrella – SALT, Switch, Parker’s, Grind, Somewhere and Public.

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Quality Control Officer for the food products, providing detailed feedback to support product development, quality control and consumer research.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sensory Evaluation: Taste, smell, texture and visually evaluate food products to identify attributes (e.g., flavor, texture, aroma).

2. Descriptive Analysis: Accurately describe sensory characteristics using standardized vocabulary.

3. Recording: Record sensory data accurately in an audit format in the given audit checklist

4. Product Comparison: Compare products to identify differences and similarities.

5. Quality Control: Evaluate products for sensory defects or inconsistencies.

6. Training and Calibration: Participate in sensory training and calibration sessions.

7. Communication: Provide clear, concise feedback to stakeholders.

Requirements

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in food science, Sensory Science, Culinary Arts or related field.

2. Experience: 1-2 years of sensory evaluation experience.

3. Sensory Training: Formal sensory training (e.g., Descriptive Analysis, Sensory Spectrum).

4. Knowledge: Understanding of sensory evaluation methods and terminology.

5. Taste and Smell: Normal senses of taste and smell.

6. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

7. Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
