Job description
About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Quality Control professional to oversee traction motor bearing replacement activities on a rolling-stock retrofit program. You’ll ensure strict adherence to project quality plans, maintain full traceability and calibration control, and lead NCR reporting and close-out.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide Quality Control supervision during traction motor bearing replacement and associated retrofit tasks.

  • Maintain complete and accurate QC/QA records for all retrofit activities (ITPs, checklists, reports).

  • Build and update a traceability matrix for planned vs. completed works (components, serials, dates, personnel, torque values, etc.).

  • Maintain and audit the calibration register for gauges, torque tools, and measuring devices.

  • Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for process deviations and non-compliant parts; support root-cause analysis and CAPA/8D closure.

  • Verify incoming parts and consumables for conformity (certs, CoC, specs).

  • Perform in-process and final inspections; sign-off against QCP/ITP hold and witness points.

  • Interface daily with Production, Engineering, and Stores to prevent rework and schedule slippage.

  • Contribute to toolbox talks and continuous improvement of work instructions.

Qualifications
  • Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering (or similar).

  • Relevant QC/QA certifications are a plus (e.g., ISO 9001 auditor/lead auditor).

  • Exposure to EN 15085/Welding quality environments and/or electromechanical rotating equipment.

  • Experience with depot CMMS (e.g., Maximo/SAP PM) and basic data analysis (Excel).

  • Knowledge of rail safety rules, LOTO, and EHS best practices.

  • Committed to safe systems of work, PPE compliance, and reporting of hazards and near misses.

  • Role may require background/reference checks to meet depot access requirements.

Additional Information
  • OEM/AH welding approvals; coded TIG for aerospace aluminum.

  • Familiarity with door/canopy mechanisms and tolerances.

  • Experience with riveted alternatives and sealants (PR).
