Job summary

Bilfinger Middle East is seeking a QC Inspector with strong NDT coordination skills for site work in Abu Dhabi. The role requires deep knowledge of welding, QA/QC documentation, and ASME/API standards.

You will lead a team of QCI and NDT inspectors, review complex drawings, and ensure project compliance from fabrication through final testing. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in O&G/Petrochemical QC in GCC, CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI, and a mechanical engineering background.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years’ experience in an OIL & GAS/ Petrochemical industry for fabrication and erection works for QC Inspector.
• At least 5 years of GCC experience in similar capacity for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industry.
• Candidate must be familiar with Welding, Repair, NDT, testing & QC documentation.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API 510, API 650, ASME Sec VIII Div.1 & 2, ASME Sec IX, AWS D1.1.

Responsibilities

• Review applicable project drawings, specifications, scope of work; identify inspection and test plans.
• Coordinate with Client QC representatives for approvals and documentation.
• Allocate QC and NDT Inspectors; set objectives and monitor progress.
• Review and verify inspection/test records; ensure compliance with ITP and specs.
• Stop work for non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
• Report NCRs and drive improvements via QMS.

Job description

(a) Review applicable project drawings, specifications, scope of work.

(b) Identify and plan inspection and test processes (and their stages) ensuring all inspection and testing requirements are identified and understood; documents and reports to be generated are identified; acceptance criteria set as per the specifications

(c) Identify and prepare QC Project Documents required for submission to client or internal parties e.g. NDE procedures, work instructions, weld map, inspection and test plan, etc. taking into consideration client's specifications and applicable International Standards for documents submittal, if any

(d) Co-ordinate with Client QC representative for obtaining approval/acceptance on those submitted project specific QC Documents. Ensure frequent communication Company Inspection team & Site PMT.

(e) Co-ordinate with PMT personnel, External Inspection agencies (such as TPI, Vendor Inspector, External testing laboratory, ASME AIA for ASME related works, Certification bodies/agencies) in a timely manner

(f) Review and submit the project specific documents to the concerned function either for approval or internal distribution and importantly as per schedule

(g) Allocate QC Inspector & NDT Inspector for the job and induct the QCI's & NDT Inspectors about the project objectives and requirements

(h) Set objectives, targets and completion dates for QCI's & NDT Inspectors regularly. Monitor and review on a daily basis QCI's NDT Inspector's progress, inspection techniques, reports, affectivity, efficiency and other tasks

(i) Coordinate and ensure the availability of necessary Calibrated inspection instruments, and facilities as and when required for Inspection/quality check

(j) Review and verify all inspection and testing records generated by the QCI's, NDT Inspectors and NDE/Other subcontractors to ensure completeness, correctness, adherence to the project/client specifications & procedures

(k) Carry out random stage-wise inspection and final inspection with the assigned QCI as per the ITP, to verify compliance of works and product to the requirement of the job

(l) Stop the work if any non-conformity is identified and advise immediately all concerned persons or functions responsible for the disposition of the reported non-conformity. Ensure the effective implementation of the required corrective and preventive actions

(m) Report and document any non-conformity found and ascertain the root cause of the non-conformity. Update the Management Representative or his deputy for logging of NCR's into its register

(n) Advise the PMT and Management regarding the repeated Non-conformity, Areas/Processes for potential improvement as a part of Company QMS

(o) Responsible to abide by the Company HR, HSE, IT, Compliance & Quality policies & procedures along with the UAE laws

(p) Fulfil roles and responsibilities as per “BILFINGER & Company Environmental, Health and Safety Management System” requirements

(q) Do other tasks as required by the Direct Supervisor/ Management.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Diploma holder in Mechanical discipline
• CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI
