Job Summary:
The QC Welding Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all welding activities comply with project specifications, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS, ADNOC standards). The inspector will monitor welding processes, conduct inspections, review procedures, and ensure quality compliance throughout fabrication, construction, and repair activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding Inspection & Compliance:

  • o Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds (VT, DPT, MPI, UT, RT, etc.).
  • o Verify welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQ) and ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and ADNOC standards.
  • o Monitor and inspect welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW) for structural, piping, and pressure vessel fabrication.
2. Quality Control & Documentation:
  • o Review and approve welding procedures, qualifications, and NDT reports.
  • o Ensure proper material traceability and compliance with Weld Maps and ITPs.
  • o Maintain inspection records, reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
3. Defect Identification & Corrective Actions:
  • o Identify welding defects (cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, etc.) and recommend corrective actions.
  • o Coordinate with NDT teams for additional testing if required.
4. Coordination & Reporting:
  • o Liaise with contractors, engineers, and third-party inspectors.
  • o Report daily/weekly inspection findings to the QC Lead/Project Manager.
  • o Attend quality meetings and provide technical input.
5. Safety & Standards Adherence:
  • o Ensure all welding activities follow HSE policies and project safety guidelines.
  • o Verify welder qualifications and equipment calibration.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Welding Engineering or related field.
  • Certifications:
  • CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) mandatory.
  • ASNT Level II in NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT) is a plus.
  • ADNOC approval or previous ADNOC project experience preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in QC welding inspection in oil & gas (onshore/offshore).
  • Familiarity with ADNOC, Shell, or other major oil & gas standards.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes (ASME IX, API 1104, AWS D1.1).
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings, WPS/PQR, and ITPs.
