Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial estimates to the final accounts. The role ensures value for money while achieving the required standards and quality. The Quantity Surveyor will also handle contract administration, cost control, and project financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQ) based on project drawings and specifications.
Advise on cost implications and cost-saving opportunities.
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare tender and contract documents.
Review, analyze, and negotiate tenders with suppliers and subcontractors.
Recommend procurement strategies and select subcontractors.
Contract Administration
Manage contractual matters, variations, and claims.
Ensure compliance with contractual terms and legal requirements.
Cost Control & Financial Management
Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts.
Identify and manage financial risks.
Measurement & Valuation
Carry out site measurements and valuations.
Prepare interim payment applications and assess subcontractor claims.
Collaboration & Communication
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
Provide cost-related advice to stakeholders throughout the project.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Experience: [X] years of experience in quantity surveying within construction projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office and QS software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD).
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
