Job Summary
The QA/QC Inspector – Piping is responsible for inspecting and verifying all piping fabrication, welding, and installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, WPS/PQR, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role involves close coordination with site teams, clients, and third‑party inspectors (TPIs), monitoring welder performance, and maintaining accurate inspection and quality records throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, ITPs, method statements, and quality procedures related to piping works.
- Inspect incoming piping materials, fittings, valves, and consumables; verify MTCs, traceability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct fit‑up, dimensional, orientation, and alignment inspections prior to welding activities.
- Verify correct application of approved WPS/PQR, welding consumables, pre‑heat, interpass temperature, and welding parameters.
- Monitor piping fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, flushing, drying, and reinstatement activities.
- Coordinate with site engineers, construction teams, and NDT subcontractors for inspection and testing schedules.
- Review and verify NDT reports, hydrotest packages, pressure test records, and as‑built documentation.
- Raise NCRs/CARs for non‑conformances, monitor corrective actions, and ensure timely close‑out.
- Liaise with clients and TPIs for inspection hold points, witness points, and final documentation approval.
- Maintain inspection records, calibration logs, welder performance records, and daily quality inspection reports.
- Ensure all activities comply with company Quality Management System and HSE requirements.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a QA/QC Inspector – Piping in Oil & Gas or construction projects
- Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API, ASTM, and relevant piping codes and standards
- Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, and general arrangement drawings
- Experience in material verification, piping inspections, hydrotesting, and NDT coordination
- Ability to review welding documents, inspection reports, and quality records
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
- CSWIP / BGAS certification preferred
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Awareness of HSE regulations and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements
