Job summary

Halian Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a QA Engineer to support testing of Open Finance platforms within a leading banking environment, with a heavy focus on API testing, automation, data validation, and integration testing.

The role encompasses designing and executing manual and automated test scenarios, building API automation frameworks using Playwright, TypeScript, Rest Assured or PyTest, and validating REST APIs, data, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka.

Qualifications

• 5-12 years of QA Engineering experience with both manual and automation testing.
• Strong banking or financial services domain experience.
• Proven expertise in API testing and API automation.
• Hands-on experience with Postman, Playwright(TypeScript), Rest Assured and/or PyTest.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation and backend testing.
• Experience with Open Finance APIs, enterprise data management, and Kafka-based event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and testing best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test scenarios across Open Finance platforms and API ecosystems.

QA Engineer (Open Finance APIs & Automation Testing)

Role Overview

We are seeking a QA Engineer to support the testing and quality assurance of Open Finance platforms within a leading banking environment.

This role will focus heavily on API testing, API automation, data validation, and integration testing, ensuring that critical Open Finance and Enterprise Data Management platforms operate reliably and securely. The successful candidate will work across both manual and automated testing activities, validating integrations between banking systems, APIs, data platforms, and event-driven architectures.

The ideal candidate will have strong banking experience, hands-on expertise in API automation frameworks, and a solid understanding of data validation and backend testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test scenarios across Open Finance platforms and API ecosystems.
• Build and maintain API automation frameworks using Playwright, TypeScript, Rest Assured, PyTest, or equivalent tools.
• Perform comprehensive testing of REST APIs, integration services, and enterprise data platforms.
• Execute end-to-end validation of Open Finance workflows and banking integrations.
• Validate data accuracy through SQL queries, database testing, and backend data verification.
• Test event-driven integrations and messaging platforms, including Kafka-based services.
• Develop reusable automation scripts and contribute to continuous improvement of testing frameworks.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing activities.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and vendor teams to ensure quality delivery.
• Participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, retesting, and release validation.
• Support CI/CD testing processes and quality assurance best practices.
• Ensure compliance with banking security, governance, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5-12 years of experience in QA Engineering, including both manual and automation testing.
• Strong banking or financial services domain experience.
• Proven expertise in:
  • API Testing
  • API Automation
  • REST API Validation
  • Data Validation & Database Testing
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Postman
  • Playwright with TypeScript
  • Rest Assured and/or PyTest
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to validate and retrieve backend data.
• Experience testing Enterprise APIs, Open Finance platforms, or Enterprise Data Management systems.
• Understanding of Kafka and event-driven architectures, with the ability to validate message flows.
• Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of API lifecycle management and integration testing.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and testing best practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with Open Banking/Open Finance implementations.
• Exposure to Enterprise Data Management platforms and API gateways.
• Cloud platform experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience working within CI/CD environments and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of test automation reporting and quality metrics.
• Exposure to TestGorilla or similar assessment platforms.
• Experience working in highly regulated banking environments.

• Maximum notice period: 30 days
• Strong hands-on testing capability with both manual and automation testing
• Experience working on enterprise-scale banking transformation initiatives is highly preferred
