About The Role

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join Springer Nature as a Publisher or Senior Publisher! In this role, you will be responsible for a defined list of journals and will work with the team to grow the portfolio through strategic development and acquisitions. You will proactively develop journal strategies, build relationships with academics and policymakers, and collaborate across departments to ensure journal success. This role offers exposure to the global academic publishing industry.

Role responsibilities :

1. Develop journals to deliver a superior author experience and foster engagement with Societies, Editors-in-Chief, and Editorial Board Members.
2. Drive growth and development of a journal portfolio within the strategic framework.
3. Manage relationships with partner societies, including contract negotiations.
4. Collaborate with production, IT, and other departments to resolve issues swiftly.
5. Manage targets for submissions, publications, and turnaround times.
6. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), taking action as needed.
7. Oversee journal development and improvement plans.
8. Address pre- and post-publication issues such as authorship, scope, ethics, misconduct, and policies.
9. Attend external meetings to build relationships with external Editors-in-Chief, EBMs, society partners, and the research community.
10. Stay informed about trends in research and publishing to adapt strategies accordingly.
11. Develop and maintain relationships with researchers.
12. Translate industry changes into new product and service proposals.
13. Participate in cross-departmental projects and company-wide initiatives.
14. Review and propose new journal and commercial opportunities.
15. Represent the team in collaborations with Production, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other Editorial teams.

Experience, skills, and qualifications :

1. Degree or equivalent, preferably in life or biomedical sciences.
2. Experience in academic publishing and journal development.
3. Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in French or Arabic is a plus.
4. IT literacy and attention to detail.
5. Proactive problem-solving and ownership of tasks.
6. Strong teamwork and influencing skills.
7. Ability to work independently and remotely.
8. Experience building relationships with researchers.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills.
10. Diplomacy and assertiveness.
