Public Investments Analyst Intern

Overview

We are looking for an Off Cycle Analyst Intern – Public Investments to join our Magellan Capital team in Dubai. The duration of the internship is 6 months, ideally starting in May / June 2025.

We are a growing DIFC-based investment management firm. Our permanent capital structure makes us agile and focused investors. We invest in high quality and deep value businesses across the capital spectrum, in private and public markets. Our team in Dubai is growing rapidly and to support that growth we are looking for an Off Cycle Analyst Intern in our Public Investments team.

The Role

We offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both equity and fixed income analysis, working alongside our small team of experienced investment professionals. During the Analyst Internship, you will be exposed to the entire investment process, from fundamental research and financial modelling to portfolio construction and performance evaluation.

This is an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of public investments. As an Analyst, you will collaborate with senior team members, contributing to all stages of the investment process.

What We Look For

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field from a top tier educational institution
• Demonstrated academic excellence (minimum 3.5 GPA, 2:1 Honours or equivalent)
• Strong proficiency in financial modelling, valuation methodologies, and investment analysis
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial modelling software (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for accuracy
• Self-starter with an exceptional work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Genuine interest in public financial markets

Key Responsibilities

• Investment Research: Conduct in-depth research on individual stocks and fixed income issuers (corporates and governments), across various sectors and geographies
• Investment Analysis: Analyse financial statements, industry trends, valuation metrics and competitive landscape to determine the key investment highlights and key risks. Build financial models including scenario analyses and sensitivities
• Investment Execution: Support the portfolio managers and analysts with preparing internal investment memos, shareholder and board presentations and any relevant documentation to obtain sign-offs and ensure smooth execution
• Portfolio Monitoring: Assist with tracking the performance of existing investments and support with exit strategies. Assist with the development of portfolio reports and any internal performance updates
• Market Research: Consistently stay informed on current news and market trends
