Job summary

International Community Schools (ICS) Al Mushrif in Abu Dhabi is seeking an enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to join the High School team (Grades 9–12). You will foster critical thinking, study US curriculum standards, and prepare students for higher education and global citizenship.

The successful candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree preferred, and a valid secondary teaching license with a Psychology endorsement. UAE ADEK compliance experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of full-time post-qualification teaching experience in Psychology at high school level (Grades 9–12).
• Experience delivering the American curriculum and US standards in Psychology.
• AP Psychology experience and a track record of student success are strongly preferred.
• Experience in an international school setting, ideally in the UAE or Middle East.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging AP and standard Psychology instruction to grades 9–12.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners including ELL and students with SEN.

The role

ICS Al Mushrif is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified Psychology Teacher to join the academic team for Cycle 3 (High School: Grades 9-12). The successful candidate will foster critical thinking and a deep understanding of human behavior, preparing students for higher education and global citizenship.

Requirements

Education and certification

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• Master's Degree in Psychology or Education is highly preferred.
• Valid professional teaching license or certification in Secondary Education with a Psychology endorsement from a recognized US state or equivalent jurisdiction.
• Relevant academic transcripts and degree certificates must be attested as per UAE Ministry of Education requirements.

Experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years of full-time post-qualification teaching experience in Psychology at the high school level (Grades 9-12).
• Demonstrated experience teaching the American curriculum and adhering to US standards for Psychology.
• Experience with the Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology curriculum and a proven track record of student success in AP exams is a significant advantage.
• Previous experience in an international school setting, particularly in the UAE or Middle East, is highly desirable.

Curriculum knowledge

• Familiarity with the expectations for teaching AP Psychology and preparing students for the AP examination.

UAE-specific requirements

• Full compliance with regulations set by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
• Willingness to complete the ADEK teacher licensing and approval process.
• Understanding of and respect for UAE local culture, values, and traditions.
• Ability to meet all UAE visa requirements and pass mandatory criminal background checks.
