Key Responsibilities
- Manage the existing property insurance renewal book and review accounts well ahead of renewal dates.
- Assess renewal performance to support portfolio profitability and long‑term account retention.
- Handle day‑to‑day underwriting tasks promptly while following approved guidelines, procedures, and authority limits.
- Scrutinize new property insurance submissions and analyze risk details in line with underwriting standards.
- Support underwriting decisions by reviewing policy information, exposure details, claims history, pricing, and risk quality.
- Monitor client risk management progress and arrange periodic risk surveys where required.
- Work closely with business channels to secure new property insurance business and retain existing portfolios.
- Provide technical underwriting support to internal teams, intermediaries, and business partners.
- Assist in preparing management reports, premium statistics, claims statistics, and portfolio performance summaries.
- Highlight profitability concerns, risk trends, claims issues, or underwriting deviations for management review.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records, account notes, renewal data, risk survey updates, and approval documentation.
- Ensure all underwriting activity follows company policies, regulatory requirements, and internal service standards.
- Support timely turnaround of quotations, renewals, endorsements, and underwriting decisions.
- Provide a high standard of customer experience to brokers, clients, and internal business partners.
- Coordinate with claims, risk management, business development, and operations teams to support effective portfolio management.
Ideal Profile
- Relevant university degree or general insurance qualification is required.
- 5-7 years of experience in insurance underwriting or a similar technical insurance role.
- Strong experience handling property insurance underwriting responsibilities.
- Sound technical knowledge of property insurance, risk assessment, renewal review, claims performance, and underwriting guidelines.
- Ability to analyze new submissions and support underwriting decisions with accurate risk evaluation.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good organizational ability with the capacity to prioritize workloads and meet agreed turnaround times.
- Experience working with business channels to support new business acquisition and portfolio retention.
- Ability to prepare reports, premium analysis, claims statistics, and management information.
- Good customer service approach when dealing with business partners and internal stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet applications.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to explain underwriting decisions clearly.
- Reliable, disciplined, and able to work in a deadline‑driven insurance environment.
