Job Description
- Oversee all phases of ship repair projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with ship owners, classification societies, and various stakeholders to establish project scope, deliverables, and timelines specific to ship repair requirements.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation to optimize workflow and meet critical milestones in repair operations.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors, to foster collaboration and maximize efficiency during the repair process.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to track project status, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols throughout the repair project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for ship repairs, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery.
- Prepare and present progress reports, budget updates, and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders, showcasing project outcomes.
- Implement risk management strategies to anticipate potential challenges and develop contingency plans for ship repair projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project performance and applying lessons learned to optimize future ship repair endeavors.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field is essential for understanding technical complexities in ship repairs.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the ship repair industry, demonstrating expertise in managing large-scale projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred to validate your project management skills and methodologies.
- Experience with maritime regulations and classification standards, ensuring compliance throughout the repair process.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as MS Project or Primavera, to facilitate project planning and scheduling.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams toward achieving project goals.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, with a focus on analytical and strategic thinking to overcome project challenges.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability, especially in international contexts, given the global nature of the maritime industry.
- A valid maritime safety certification, such as STCW, to ensure awareness of safety practices on ship repair sites.
