Job description

The Project Manager for the HVDC COA-SOA / WOA Project will be responsible for the comprehensive management and successful delivery of the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) project focused on COA (Converter Station) - SOA (System Operation and Automation) and WOA (Wind-to-Grid Optimization Automation) systems in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the project from planning to execution, ensuring that it meets technical, financial, and schedule objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities :

Project Planning and Execution :

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans for the HVDC COA-SOA / WOA Project, including schedules, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, and objectives in alignment with stakeholder requirements and project goals.
  • Establish project budgets and control financial expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Team Leadership and Coordination :

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, contractors, and consultants, providing clear direction and support to achieve project milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure integration and effective execution of project tasks.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and subcontractors.

Stakeholder Management :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, regulatory authorities, and project partners.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and changes, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise, ensuring timely and effective solutions.

Risk and Issue Management :

  • Identify potential risks associated with the HVDC COA-SOA / WOA project and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage project issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance and Compliance :

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess project performance and adherence to plans.
  • Promote and implement best practices in project management, including adherence to HVDC-specific standards.

Documentation and Reporting :

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
  • Ensure documentation complies with organizational and regulatory standards.

Compliance and Standards :

  • Ensure the project adheres to all relevant local and international standards, including HVDC regulations and guidelines.
  • Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PMP / PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum 15 years of experience in project management, specifically with HVDC projects, including COA, SOA, and WOA systems. Experience in the Saudi Arabian energy sector is highly advantageous.
  • Skills : Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience managing complex HVDC projects. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.). In-depth knowledge of HVDC technology, COA-SOA / WOA systems, and industry best practices. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Other Requirements : Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus. Familiarity with local regulations and standards in Saudi Arabia. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with possible travel to project sites as required.
