Role Description

This is a contract role for an onsite Production Technical Director. You will be responsible for leading the technical execution of a large-scale special event in the Middle East, preceding one of the world’s most high-profile New Year’s celebrations, with a massive live and global broadcast audience.

The Production Technical Director will oversee all technical disciplines, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure flawless execution under compressed timelines. This role requires full-time onsite work in the Middle East and cannot be performed remotely. The contract term begins immediately and runs through early January 2026.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of a large-scale special event for a high-profile New Year’s celebration with global broadcast audience.
• Oversee all technical disciplines and ensure flawless delivery under compressed timelines.
• Manage complex stakeholder relationships with authorities, vendors, and multinational teams.
• Coordinate onsite operations to meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in live event production, large-scale ceremonies, or mega-spectacles (stadium, arena, outdoor, or equivalent).
• Proven track record managing budgets over $10M and technical crews of 50-100 minimum.
• Strong expertise across multiple technical areas (some combination of staging, automation, lighting, audio, video, SFX, rigging, aquatics).
• Experience coordinating with senior stakeholders, authorities, and multinational teams.
• Excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
• Knowledge of international safety standards and compliance requirements.
• Regional (Middle East) experience a plus, but not required.
