Job summary

Aquanow seeks a Product Owner for Stablecoin Payments in Dubai. You will own backend product decisions, drive API design, and translate complex technical architecture into clear requirements for engineers.

You will collaborate with engineering, compliance, and operations to ship features globally, manage backlog, define KPIs, and ensure regulatory alignment while maintaining docs and demos. This is a full-time hybrid role in Dubai.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 3–5+ years in Product Owner, BA, or product management in payments/fintech.
• Familiarity with crypto payments, stablecoins, or blockchain infra.
• Understanding of payment ecosystems including cards, transfers, FX, and crypto rails.
• Experience reading REST API specs, including auth patterns and webhooks.

Responsibilities

• Own the payments platform backlog and refine user stories with acceptance criteria.

Your Contribution to Our Growth

As a Payments Product Owner, you will play a hands-on role in delivering Aquanow's payment products. You will work deeply alongside our engineering team, owning backend product decisions, driving API design conversations, and translating complex technical architecture into well-structured requirements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in technical environments and gets energy from working directly with developers to design and ship real product.

Strong API knowledge is central to how you will operate day-to-day. You should be comfortable discussing endpoints, request and response structures, parameters, authentication patterns, and error handling with developers, and contributing meaningfully to how new APIs are designed or enhanced.

You will own a portfolio of payment products that are early in their journey, including stablecoin payments, remittances, crypto payouts, checkout acceptance, and funding flows. On each of these you will partner directly with the tech lead to understand the architecture, make product recommendations, write user stories, and drive delivery from concept through to release. There is real ownership here and a genuine opportunity to shape how these products are built.

Aquanow is a global team and collaboration across time zones is part of how we work. You should expect a few evenings per week to overlap with our Canadian engineering, QA, and product teams.

This is a full-time, permanent position working hybrid out of our Dubai office.

What You’ll Do

• Own the product backlog for Aquanow's payments platform, defining, prioritizing, and refining user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure the development team is always working on the highest-value work.
• Translate business requirements from stakeholders into clear, actionable specifications that guide engineering, QA, and design teams through the full delivery lifecycle.
• Partner with business development, compliance, and operations teams to shape payment product features that meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and market demand across global regions.
• Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning activities, ensuring delivery milestones are met with quality and on schedule.
• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the delivery team, removing blockers, clarifying requirements, and making rapid prioritization decisions to maintain momentum.
• Monitor and report on product performance using defined KPIs, using data to surface improvement opportunities and inform future prioritization.
• Ensure payment products and features meet applicable regulatory and compliance standards across all operational jurisdictions, collaborating closely with legal and compliance teams.
• Facilitate and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), product demos, and feedback loops with internal and external stakeholders to validate features before release.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation including product specifications, workflow diagrams, and release notes to support transparency across teams.
• Continuously evaluate third-party payment rails, crypto settlement infrastructure, and emerging industry standards to inform product decisions and keep Aquanow's offerings competitive.

We’d Love to See

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or product management role within payments, fintech, or financial services.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency payment systems, stablecoin settlements, or blockchain-based payment infrastructure and their associated operational and regulatory nuances.
• Solid understanding of payment processing ecosystems including card networks, bank transfers, FX, and emerging crypto payment rails.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in reading, writing and evaluating REST API specifications, including authentication patterns, request/response structures, error handling, and webhooks.
• Awareness of global payments regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML/KYC requirements, Travel Rule, MSB licensing considerations) across relevant operating regions.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret product metrics and translate findings into clear prioritization decisions.
• Hands-on experience working within agile/scrum delivery frameworks, including backlog management, sprint ceremonies, and stakeholder demos.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Proficiency with product and project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, operations, and sales teams in a collaborative, outcome-driven environment.
