Job summary

Qualifications

We're Hiring: Product Owner

We are seeking a strategic, customer-focused, and delivery-oriented Product Owner to define product requirements, prioritize the product backlog, align business and technical teams, and ensure the successful delivery of products that create measurable business value. The role will work closely with stakeholders, Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers, Developers, QA teams, and Project Managers throughout the product lifecycle. Current Malaysia Product Owner roles commonly emphasize product vision, backlog prioritization, requirements management, stakeholder alignment, Agile delivery, UAT, and measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the product vision, objectives, priorities, and desired business outcomes.
• Own, manage, and continuously prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer needs, urgency, dependencies, and technical feasibility.
• Gather, analyze, and translate business and user needs into clear product requirements.
• Develop detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, use cases, and product specifications.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand customer problems, business objectives, and market opportunities.
• Act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and technical development teams.
• Work closely with Developers, Tech Leads, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers, QA Engineers, and Project Managers.
• Clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities before and during development.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, product demonstrations, and other Agile ceremonies where required.
• Prioritize features, enhancements, technical improvements, defects, and change requests according to product objectives.
• Maintain and communicate product roadmaps, release plans, priorities, and delivery timelines.
• Review completed features and validate that delivered solutions meet agreed requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate issue resolution with technical teams.
• Monitor product performance, user feedback, adoption, quality, and key business metrics.
• Use data, customer insights, market research, and performance analytics to support product decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve product functionality, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business performance.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate product priorities, progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
• Evaluate competing requirements and make informed prioritization decisions.
• Coordinate product releases, enhancements, migrations, integrations, and other product initiatives.
• Work with technical teams to break high-level requirements into manageable development tasks.
• Identify and manage product risks, dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and scope changes.
• Ensure product documentation, requirements, decisions, and acceptance criteria remain accurate and up to date.
• Support product launches, user onboarding, training, communications, and post-launch reviews where required.
• Gather feedback from customers and internal users and incorporate insights into future product improvements.
• Continuously improve product development processes, Agile practices, backlog quality, and delivery effectiveness.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or related product-development role.
• Typically 3–5+ years of relevant experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, Product Management, or technology delivery. Current Kuala Lumpur Product Owner postings commonly request 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, product development, software development lifecycles, and product delivery methodologies.
• Strong experience managing product backlogs, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product roadmaps.
• Excellent ability to gather, assess, validate, clarify, and prioritize requirements.
• Strong understanding of customer journeys, user experience, product functionality, and business processes.
• Experience working with cross-functional technology and business teams.
• Strong stakeholder-management, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to balance customer needs, business priorities, technical constraints, timelines, and available resources.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Trello, Miro, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of software development, APIs, databases, integrations, system architecture, and technology solutions is an advantage.
• Experience coordinating UAT, testing, defect management, release planning, and production implementation.
• Strong ability to interpret product data, KPIs, customer feedback, and performance metrics.
• Ability to make data-driven decisions and clearly communicate product priorities to senior stakeholders.
• Experience in digital products, SaaS, fintech, banking, e-commerce, enterprise systems, or technology platforms is an advantage.
• Professional Product Owner certifications such as PSPO, CSPO, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent are an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, Product Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
