The Product Manager for Routing & Traffic Optimization is responsible for driving product innovation, operational excellence, and delivery experience by building and optimizing routing algorithms and evaluating strategic integrations. This role is pivotal in enhancing on-time delivery rates, boosting operational efficiency, and elevating user experience across Careem's marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Efficiency & Growth

  • Collaborate with marketplace product teams to implement strategies that improve on-time deliveries and marketplace efficiency.
  • Reduce cancellations, enhance order fulfillment rates, and minimize customer and Captain wait times.
Traffic & Routing Improvements
  • Drive innovation in traffic and routing, benchmarking against global best practices.
  • Evaluate and optimize between building proprietary systems vs integrating third-party providers.
  • Prioritize and develop high-impact solutions to routing challenges.
Experimentation & Product Development
  • Design, implement, and monitor experiments to validate hypotheses around delivery performance and efficiency.
  • Use experiment results to iterate on product features and strategies.
Analytics & Performance Insights
  • Partner with Analytics and Data Science to track marketplace metrics.
  • Improve predictive models for demand surges, ETAs, and delivery reliability.
Routing ETA Optimization
  • Enhance ETA prediction accuracy through improved algorithms that factor in traffic, Captain behavior, and other signals.
  • Monitor and act on deviations in ETA across regions and verticals to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Implement real-time delay mitigation strategies and optimize supply utilization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Align with Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Data & AI, and Finance teams to deliver scalable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Represent the voice of customers and Captains in product decisions.
  • Lead performance reviews and marketplace stand-ups to ensure transparency and alignment.

Qualifications
Education

  • Exposure to ML models and routing/traffic systems is highly desirable.
