Job description

Product Manager II - Captain Platforms and Payments Careem

Careem is on a mission to simplify lives and create an amazing experience for our captains (drivers). We are looking for a Product Manager (PM-II level) to lead key systems that shape how captains receive rides, get paid, and feel safe.

You will work on:

  • Captain notifications and ping reliability
  • Captain payment transparency and experience
  • Fraud detection and captain safety

Your work will ensure our captains earn fairly, operate efficiently, and feel supported, helping all Careem businesses grow.

You will report to the Director of Captain Platform Product and collaborate with a passionate team across engineering, design, analytics, and operations.

Why This Role Matters

Careem aims to improve the lives of our captains by developing systems that enhance their experience in receiving rides, payments, and safety. This role involves leading initiatives that impact these areas directly.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Captain Experience Strategy: Craft the vision for key captain platform features, including payments and safety. Align teams around a shared roadmap and success metrics.
  2. Product Roadmap & Delivery: Own the roadmap across multiple domains (platform, payments, safety/fraud). Lead the delivery from idea to launch with speed and impact.
  3. Design for Captains: Be the voice of the captain. Understand their local needs, challenges, and behaviors. Design intuitive, scalable solutions backed by research and feedback.
  4. Use Data to Drive Decisions: Utilize data, feedback, and trends to identify opportunities. Run A/B tests and experiments to validate ideas and improve outcomes.
  5. Work Cross-Functionally: Partner with Engineering, Analytics, Design, Legal, and Operations. Manage trade-offs, build alignment, and drive execution across markets.

What success looks like in 6 months:

  1. Improve communication methods with captains (e.g., push notifications vs. SMS, open rates)
  2. Boost Captain NPS by addressing key pain points
  3. Reduce lost pings or implement fail-safes for offline cases
  4. Enhance transparency and satisfaction regarding captain earnings
  5. Reduce fraud cases and improve captain safety features

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4-5 years in Product Management, especially in mobile and digital products. Experience with fraud, AI/ML, payments, or driver-side products is preferred.
  • Industry Background: Preferably from ride-hailing, quick commerce, food delivery, e-commerce, or B2C marketplaces.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Math, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
